Ortac is a Contessa 43 built by Jeremy Rogers' yard in Lymington in 1979. Of the fifteen Contessa 43s built, one achieved the highest score in the 1977 Admiral's Cup, including the Fastnet Race. Another sister yacht took part in the 1981 Whitbread Round The World Race, making it the smallest yacht to have competed in this legendary race, now known as the (Volvo) Ocean Race. Ortac has been used much less, but is still as fast and seaworthy as ever.

Since she was bought by her current owners in 2020, Ortac has sailed around the UK and Ireland, with a crew made up of young people aged between 15 and 19. In 2023, she circumnavigated Ireland in a fortnight before returning to her current base in the Clyde.
